Bathroom Poetry

Oliver Schweizer meets Legato

„For me, design is all about combining the everyday with the aesthetic.“

— Oliver Schweizer

Designing products that make you feel good – this is the philosophy that has underpinned the high-quality bathroom collections developed by the Stuttgart-based product designer Oliver Schweizer for Villeroy & Boch for over 20 years.

His visions are inspired to a great extent by Scandinavian design. He uses clearly defined linear shapes, generously proportioned furniture and a calculated use of light to create a peaceful, timeless bathroom architecture that impresses with outstanding functionality.

One of the themes of his work is the use of formal elements and technologies from other trades to develop surprising new bathroom solutions. His design studio Schweizer Design Consulting works with well-known companies in sectors including automotive, office, domestic, health, lifestyle and sport. Oliver Schweizer has won numerous international prizes, most recently the Red Dot Design Award 2016 for Villeroy & Boch's Legato collection.

Oliver Schweizer's design inspirations

"I take inspiration from everything I come across in life."

— Oliver Schweizer

Calculated use of light is an important element of bathroom design for Oliver Schweizer. As well as effectively illuminating the space, he also focuses on creating a relaxed atmosphere. The designer achieves this using light sources that can be adjusted according to the time of day: light in the morning and dimmed in the evening.

LEGATO

Unique, both day and night

The Legato bathroom collection by Oliver Schweizer is both puristic and timelessly modern. The linear ceramic shapes combine harmoniously with the expressive design of the successful furniture range. The effect is striking both day and night, with optional LED lighting that makes the washbasin and countertop appear to float above the vanity unit.
